¹ú²úÂ鶹AV Newman prides itself on providing quality education and encouraging students to reach their full potential.

This may be why ¹ú²úÂ鶹AV Newman has historically had one of the highest employment rates among colleges and universities in the UK.

Every degree at ¹ú²úÂ鶹AV Newman is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge valued by employers, preparing you for the world of work or professional practice. While a work placement is available as an option, our degrees will still fully prepare you for your career. Many students who choose to undertake a placement find it a valuable way to gain industry experience, helping them better understand potential career paths and refine their career options.

Work Placements

All students on an Initial Teacher Education course have placements in schools as an integral part of their course. Students on undergraduate full degree programmes complete a work placement module in year two and many have the opportunity to do so again in year three. Students have the opportunity to carry out a graduate role in any sector, as long as it related to their undergraduate degree.

Possible outcomes of a Work Placement:

  • Employment – paid/unpaid
  • Increased employability
  • Clarity on career decisions
  • Social Capital: Developing networks
  • New referee
  • Exploring concepts – making a difference, social justice in the workplace, mission of service, self identity
  • Opportunity to apply theory to practice
  • Personal development: values, knowledge, skills and attributes
