Newman University has a compact campus, with all halls of residence and facilities within a short walking distance of each other.

We’re located 8 miles south-west of ¹ú²úÂ鶹AV city centre – away from the hustle and bustle of city life, but close enough to ¹ú²úÂ鶹AV to easily pop into the city whenever you need to.

All our Halls are located on campus, meaning you’re just a short walk away from your lectures and all we have on offer on our student-centred campus.

Studying

Our library is open seven days a week from 7:30am–12pm. With views overlooking Bartley Reservoir, the library is a great place to study. Featuring three floors of study space, kitted out with 100,000 books, loanable laptops, computers and study pods, there’s all you need to complete your essays and assignments. There’s also a 24-hour IT suite on campus, plus lots of more informal study spaces.

Food and drink

Atrium Café

The Atrium Café is located near the reception area in the St Chad building. The Atrium Café gives you the perfect opportunity to treat yourself to a delicious Starbucks beverage from the We Proudly Serve Starbucks Coffee range. You could also grab a snack or lunch from the wide range of great quality sandwiches, toasties, paninis, fresh fairtrade fruit, cakes and chocolates.

Bistro 32

Bistro 32 is located in the Barberi building and is the main university cafeteria, offering a variety of hot meals, a salad bar, fresh fairtrade fruit, handmade baguettes, sandwiches, snacks and drinks. Bistro 32 also offers all of your favourite We Proudly Serve Starbucks beverages. As well as daily specials there is a set menu available, with options for a range of dietary requirements. Senses Lounge

Senses is the on-campus student bar, it has a pool table, darts board, retro arcade games machines and some sofas to chill out on. It has a garden area with plenty of outdoor seating and grass to enjoy the summer weather. It hosts a wide variety of student entertainment including live music, comedy shows and TV sports. It can even be booked for private events such as birthdays and societies’ events. Social life

Senses Bar is the centre of Newman Student Union social events. From live bands to talent shows, comedy clubs to theme nights, there’s enough variety to suit every taste. If you just want to meet and chat with friends on the comfy sofas, watch the TV, have a game of pool or chill out in the Martineau Quad then this is the place to go. It is open as a social space even when the bar is closed.

Sports facilities

The University Sports Centre is open seven days a week, with discounted membership available to students. Facilities include a Fitness Suite and Sports Performance Suite, featuring 16 cardiovascular equipment stations and 11 Resistance machine stations, plus squash courts.

Chaplaincy

Newman’s Chaplaincy is open to all students. Activities taking place throughout the week include Soup Kitchen and mindful colouring. The multi-faith prayer room is permanently available and includes wudu facilities.
